Meet Luisa


Welsh author Luisa A Jones lives in Newport, South Wales. She writes to explore the complex, messy truths of the human condition, with flawed and relatable characters you’ll root for from the first page. Her first historical novel in The Fitznortons series, The Gilded Cage, was released by Storm Publishing in 2023, followed by a sequel The Broken Vow in 2024. Her most recent series for Storm Publishing is set during the Second World War. You can read the announcement on Storm Publishing’s website.
What We Left Behind, the first book in the WWII series, was released in summer 2025, and has been shortlisted for the Saga Romance Award in the RNA’s Romantic Novel Awards of the Year 2026. The second book in the series is Before the Mountain Falls.
Luisa studied Classical Studies at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London. Her previous jobs have included tour guide in an historic house; teacher in both primary and secondary schools; careers adviser; and corporate trainer/assessor/coach.
Luisa loves using her creativity for crafting and baking, as well as writing historical and contemporary romantic fiction . She and her husband are the proud owners of Gwynnie, a Volkswagen camper van built in 1974, which inspired the story behind Luisa’s first book, Goes Without Saying. They have three children, a dog, and two cats.
Luisa is a member of the Society of Authors, the Historical Writers’ Association, and the Romantic Novelists’ Association (RNA). She was shortlisted for the RNA’s Elizabeth Goudge Trophy in 2024. Her historical fiction has earned her a reputation for evocative, immersive period storytelling. She has been invited to speak at industry events, including the Newport Festival of Words and the Romantic Novelists’ Association (RNA) Conference, as well as delivering online training and coaching sessions to authors for the RNA and the History Quill.
